Making a Better Connection: An Integrated Intranet and ERP System
Sentinel Self-Storage is one of Canada’s largest storage providers with 23 locations across the country. As a business with locations scattered coast-to-coast, it became a necessity to ensure all offices were equipped with a proper platform to communicate with and receive information from head office. And with more customers visiting Sentinel through the Internet, it also became essential to offer those customers 24/7 service for rental reservations and the ability to pay account balances online.
In the last 10 years, Sentinel has had success with a variety of Top Draw services ranging from website development to SEO, but a recent collaboration had Sentinel requesting Top Draw’s services for internal improvements. Top Draw’s development team proposed building an intranet site to link all Sentinel staff to the Edmonton head office, which also includes an e-commerce page allowing staff to order company apparel. The second solution proposed a custom integration with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to give customers the ability to reserve a storage facility online and pay accounts.
The results from both solutions built by our developers made an impact on time-management and administrative costs. Site managers spend less time on the phone with clients, the rental process is faster and customers have more options for payment, which reduces back and forth phone calls with renters. The intranet site helps keep all 23 locations operating under a unified conduct where information support is easily accessible.
